Healthcare software is where interface design stops being a matter of taste. The screens built for UnitedHealthcare served medical coding and patient-registration workflows — data-dense dashboards where operators process case after case for a full shift, and where a mis-read field has real consequences downstream.
The design work was the discipline this portfolio's essay on data-dense interfaces later distilled: tabular data that holds its columns, hierarchy carried by weight and space rather than decoration, disambiguated codes and identifiers, and layouts tuned to reduce the operator's per-case seconds — because at enterprise volume, seconds are the entire business case. Integrating large datasets into interfaces this constrained taught lessons about performance and information hierarchy that every dashboard project since has inherited.
